Determined to remake his life, high-school senior Nick strives to follow a newly defined moral compass. However, the appearance of a criminal from his past and a vulnerable femme fatale catalyze a series of events that lead to him running drugs for one to protect the other. The vivid 1970s–upstate New York setting adds atmosphere, and a twisting noir plot keeps the stakes high and the pages turning.

Eric gets a phone call threatening to reveal his dark secret unless he bullies a particular high-school classmate. Then he meets Shelly and Fatima, who've likewise been blackmailed by a mysterious caller, and the teens go on the offensive, using sleuthing skills to track down the caller. A fast-paced thriller with interesting characters, realistic dialogue, and plenty of food for thought.

Sawyer, a good-looking high school kid with everything he could possibly want, is tired of doing the expected and agrees to abet a girl named Grace in a theft she's planning. Benoit accomplishes something difficult--a well-paced novel about ennui, what Sawyer might have called his condition had he known the word. A satisfying examination of one high school boy's life of quiet desperation.

Tenth-grader Kyle, addressed as "you" throughout, is always on the verge of flunking out. School becomes a bit more interesting with the arrival of Zack, kicked out of private school, who helps Kyle when the jocks decide he needs a lesson. This portrait of a high school hoodie captures the emotions, both torpid and turbulent, of adolescence in brief, charged paragraphs.
