In this wordless picture book, the iconic lion statues from the New York Public Library's steps come to life for a night. They take the subway to Coney Island to visit the boardwalk, the aquarium, and the beach; then an elderly librarian reads them to sleep--and back to stone--in the morning. The textured grayscale panel illustrations grow increasingly colorful as the lions' adventure reaches its apex.
