Science Comics series.
Color by Sophie Goldstein. In this graphic novel set during a future ice age, a child stumbles upon a book about volcanoes and uses her new knowledge to bring Earth's heat to her people. Although there are some holes in the frame story's logic, the science is impressive, as are the contrasting illustrations of a frozen, abandoned California and the dynamic volcanic processes of its past. Reading list. Glos.

There's trouble in outer space, and brothers Leo Geo and Matt Data must fix it. This book is constructed as two-in-one: on one side you get Geo's perspective on the jumbled and fantastical journey to save a space station; flip the book over to hear from Data. The two meet at the center. Real space facts are peppered throughout the highly detailed panel illustrations.

Cartoon figure Leo travels through intricate black-and-white line drawings of the earth's depths on elongated pages that are read (sideways) from top to bottom as he descends, then bottom to top as he returns. Somewhat random facts (and inaccuracies due to loose terminology) are mixed with fantasy (imaginary creatures) in a confusing but interesting premise that will certainly draw young readers.
