Secret Zoo series.
Noah and his friends continue to fight the Shadowist in the depths of Clarksville City Zoo. The series is filled with inventive marvels such as giant Sasquatches and chameleons that can cover a person and make her invisible. By book five, however, the plotting feels repetitive, and the reader begins to wish for more depth than the focus on the spectacular atmosphere allows.

In their fourth adventure, Noah, Megan, Ella, and Richie continue to protect the Secret Zoo and its magical animal inhabitants. The Shadowist has other plans, however, and he's planning on bringing trouble directly to Clarksville Elementary School. Meanwhile, Animal Control is after their allies Blizzard and Little Bighorn. There’s not much backstory but plenty of action in this installment.

In their third Secret Zoo book, Noah, Richie, Megan, and Ella continue to learn more about the secrets of the underground zoo. The story turns darker with the dangers of the sasquatches; it doesn't hold as much fancy or delight as the earlier two books. The fast-paced adventures could use more detailed backstory.

In their second Secret Zoo adventure, Noah, Ella, Megan, and Richie return to the hidden world beneath the public zoo. They begin their training as "Crossers," starting to learn how to protect and better understand the secret land. Emphasis on introducing new characters and details about the fantasy world leave the book light on action until an exciting ending.

Determined to find his missing sister, Noah and his two best friends follow a string of clues to the city zoo. The mystery progresses when the trio, aided by clever animals, discovers secret passages leading to a magical world. While the core mystery is fragmented and takes a backseat to the developing fantasy, individual scenes are exciting and suspenseful.
