After six prodigious high-school hackers are tricked into creating an apocalyptic computer virus, they must set aside their disparate backgrounds to hack into a giant company and undo the damage they caused. At times the reliance on tropes makes the characters and plot feel a bit shallow, but the breakneck pace and enjoyable banter ensure an entertaining ride throughout.

In a world strictly bifurcated between heroes and villains, Kenna, raised by heroes, is a superpower-less anomaly. When a handsome teenage villain reveals that (surprise!) the heroes are actually pretty villainous, Kenna joins his mission. The predictable but nevertheless well-executed story unfolds in a small time frame, creating a propulsive sense of urgency, and a closing twist sets up an even higher-stakes sequel.

Pandora's long-absent father wreaks worldwide havoc with a worm that shuts down all electronics--except for his video game, Pandora's Box. With hotties Eli and Theo, Pandora follows clues in reality and inside the game to find and stop her father. The fast pace and high stakes make for a suspenseful read, and dynamics among Pandora and the guys add romantic tension.

Half-human/half-mermaid Tempest adapts to life in the sea. Leaving behind the hot selkie prince Kona to be with her ailing human brother back on land, she runs into Mark, the boy she loved before her transformation. In addition to the love triangle, there's also a war brewing with the sea witch Tiamat. Fans of Tempest Rising will enjoy this lushly written sequel.

Tempest must choose between her human and mermaid lineages. The decision is complicated by her mermaid mother's long absence, a prophecy that Tempest will battle the sea witch Tiamat--and Tempest's attraction to hot selkie Kai. Elements of the novel's mythos (e.g., mermaids' phosphorescent glow and instantly appearing tattoos) aren't fully fleshed out, but they don't detract from the romance or high-stakes adventure.
