This book presents some varying opinions about how harmful global warming may be and what we should or can do about it. Much more space is devoted to research on the subject which, surprisingly, goes back to the nineteenth century. The text is dry but informative. Photographs, charts, and sidebars make some pages look crowded. Reading list, timeline. Bib., glos., ind.
