(4) YA Hispanic Biographies series. Mexican-American Pancho Gonzales became a world champion tennis player in the 1950s at a time when other champions were whites from wealthy backgrounds. The author writes of Gonzales's working-class background and emphasizes the discrimination he overcame to win recognition and respect.
