In this sequel to Once Dead, Twice Shy, dark timekeeper Madison--an average, albeit dead, teenager--strives to keep both grim reapers and guardian angels in line without causing human casualties. While the beginning of the book is confusingly cluttered with messy details, the plot eventually straightens itself out and progresses into a satisfying read.

Madison died at prom, but an amulet she steals from her killer gives her "the illusion of a body" (and hence continued life). Consequently, she's sucked into a power struggle between light and dark reapers. What the story lacks in depth it recoups in attitude, introducing a new brand of angel and raising a few questions about choice versus fate.
