Lusa, Yakone, Toklo, and Kallik travel back to Great Bear Lake for the Longest Day. Although pleased to be home and seeing old friends, they are fearful of the schism they find in the bear community. This character-backstory volume focuses on young Hawkpaw coming into his own and earning his warrior name. However formulaic or unoriginal the series can be, the readers who are devoted to the cats of SkyClan and ThunderClan and their never-ending saga will be delighted to have this mammoth four-hundred-plus-page "Super Edition" to ingest.

Blazing Star picks up after the events of The First Battle: as the cats try to rebuild, disease and a cat named One Eye threaten resolution. Newcomers to the series may find the number of characters unwieldy, but fans should enjoy another energetic, high-stakes adventure.
