Orca Currents series.
Talented high-wire walker Zack is enjoying his summer working at a youth circus despite an antagonistic roommate and a yappy dog he's stuck caring for. When an audience member threatens to shut down the circus after her necklace is stolen, Zack investigates. The easy-to-read story has an entertaining premise, but the supporting characters are underdeveloped and the mystery feels low-stakes.

Clay Gibson is bored by his summer job at the waterpark--until forty thousand dollars is stolen. Like a waterslide, the story line twists and turns at a hurried pace; everything takes place within two days, leaving little time for the audience to develop connections with the two-dimensional characters. Some readers may be interested in the thieves' unmasking.

This standard-issue mystery for reluctant readers involves a track star who gets involved with a murder and something or someone called the "Margaret Rose." Though the tale takes some interesting twists, there are a lot of bland red herrings on the way to the story's less-than-earth-shattering conclusion.
