The brief explanation in the back does not provide enough information or the pronunciation of Hebrew terms for people not familiar with the holiday. However, this book, the fifth in a series about the Jewish holidays, may be useful for those with some background knowledge.

They send invitations, make and wrap presents, prepare special foods, and then light candles, play games, and feast. Appealing color photos accompany the descriptive and upbeat text. Includes recipes and blessings.

In this useful introduction, Passover and the seder, the ceremonial meal, are explained in a simple text in large print and clear photographs of children at a Jewish preschool. The children prepare for the seder and act out the basic story of the holiday. A more complete explanation is provided at book's end.

In this companion to It's Challah Time!, clear color photographs show preschoolers helping to build and decorate a sukkah--the traditional harvest booth--at their school and making miniature sukkahs to take home (directions included). The large-print text is minimal and rather bland. Hebrew blessings for the sukkah are appended.

Each page features a clear color photo and simple text that documents the basic process. There is no explanation of the holiday or of the significance of religious items in the photos (such as a Torah scroll). A recipe and blessings are found at the end of the book.
