In Banished, Hailey narrowly escaped scientists who tried to exploit her healing abilities to make zombies for military use. Her hard-won chance at normalcy is shattered when her brother and aunt are abducted. This sequel offers few additional insights into the history or gifts of the Banished, but suspense and romance (with seer Kaz) introduced in the previous volume continue to develop nicely.
