They don sunglasses and hats, grab surfboards to ride the waves, sip lemonade, and go water-skiing. Large type and sunny cartoons supporting the action will help the earliest readers feel comfortable with the story's rhymes--while making them giggle.

(3) K-3 Step into Reading series. Illustrated by Margeaux Lucas. Hula-dancing dinosaurs leap right out of a book in the school library and wreak havoc by prancing and romping around school. Peeking in classrooms and "jiggling and wiggling to and fro. / Wiping chalkboards as they go" are some of their shenanigans. The simple rhyming text, word repetition, and silly illustrations will have early readers giggling.
