(3) 4-6 Last Dragon Charmer series. Prince Caden and his friends (Villain Keeper; Quest Maker) must stop the villains exiled to Asheville, North Carolina, from destroying the town with a fearsome ritual meant to reopen the portal to Razzon. The reversal of the stock fantasy premise is amusing, but it's Caden--his perspective limited by the rigid heroic ideals that disguise his insecurity around love and acceptance--who is utterly winning.

When his estranged brother appears in Asheville, North Carolina, Prince Caden and his friends must investigate why he, too, has been cast out of Razzon, and protect him from the exiled villains imprisoned in their school. Caden's insistence on maintaining his Elite Paladin habits (questing, dragon-charming, truthfulness) at the expense of fitting in with modern-day kids adds comedy and occasional pathos to this action-packed sequel to Villain Keeper.

But when the opportunity arrives, he finds himself woefully unprepared...for the foster-care system in the decidedly un-magical strange land of Asheville, North Carolina, where he's now trapped. Caden's conspicuous inability to fit into his surroundings makes for good laughs, but his strained relationship with companions Tito and Brynne feels forced.
