Danny's Christmas break from Wilson Academy of the Devious Arts is cut short when he's summoned to join a mission team tasked to find and protect the Treaty Stone before the Ring of Five destroys it. Though most of the story is predictable, subplots propel the action toward a somewhat surprising conclusion.

During his first term at Wilsons, a school for spies, Danny Caulfield is recruited to infiltrate the enemy and uncover its plot for world domination. As the school's only hope, Danny struggles between loyalty and power, thus questioning whose side he's really on. This accessible fantasy starts slowly, but as the action unfolds it builds momentum.

In this trilogy ender, the frost-loving Harsh are drowning the world in snow and ice. This prompts Owen the Navigator to quest through the choppy "seas of time" to defeat the Harsh. Enemies also threaten from within, but with the help of good friends, Owen prevails. The weather magic and steampunk-flavored setting make for entertaining set dressing.

Poverty-stricken Owen finds himself in a magical world, embroiled in a race to save that world from the time-stealing Harsh. In classic fantasy style, Owen is the predestined hero, the son of a long-lost father. The steampunk setting, full of brass levers and gears, brings some original flavor to the adventure.
