Young Panda wants to present the perfect Valentine's Day card to his mother. Though his homemade card is clumsily crafted ("I tried to make it pretty and fun like you, but it just kept falling apart"), Panda learns, with the help of Mama, that his thoughtful words and acts are what counts. The text and illustrations are bland but heartfelt.

Panda's excitement over his beautiful Easter basket gets the better of him, and soon he's munched his way to a stomachache. Luckily, Mama knows how to soothe the "rumble in his tummy." The story, though slight, is warm-hearted. Easter-hued illustrations capture the little panda's experience of learning that it's possible to have too much of a good thing.

A young boy imagines that he and his mom are monkeys. Colorful illustrations show mother and son as monkeys swinging through the trees, eating bananas, and napping in the sun; at the end we see the boy being tucked into bed in a jungle-themed room. Both art and rhyming text are sweet and simple in this mildly amusing book.

Mommies and daddies love their babies as instinctively as monkeys love bananas and lions love to roar. This book gives mom and dad equal time by flipping the text and pictures halfway through. The first half proclaims mommy's love in nicely scanning rhymes about animal activities. Flip the book over and it's daddy's turn. The range of (gorgeous) colors provides plenty for baby to look at while listening to the reassuring rhymes.
