Hunted series.
In Chass's third mystery adventure, her music teacher's murder may or may not be connected to Chass's mother's dangerous past. A whiteout blizzard proves a thrilling backdrop to the story's twisting plot and breathless pacing. However, the series' premise continues to strain credulity, particularly in this volume (would a hunted woman really be stupid enough to hide in her pursuer's childhood home?).

Jessica would never have guessed that she could save the universe until she's handed Her Lif, a book that tells her story. With her friend Dale, she realizes the text's words aren't fixed and that their actions can alter reality for better or worse. Although the story is imaginative and action-packed, there are some confusing parts in which logic breaks down.

A senior at the demanding, remote boarding school at which his father is headmaster, David investigates his mother's two-years-unsolved murder, believing his father to be the culprit. The true villain's motives are a bit convoluted for credibility, but the meticulous layering of detail adds up to a satisfying bait-and-switch plot that doesn't play to expectations.

Hunted series.
Chass's life of frequent moves and fake names ends when her mother disappears in the unwelcoming town of High Hopes, Alabama. Dodging assassins, sheriffs, social workers, and shady entertainment moguls, Chass researches her mother's mysterious past. Despite predictable villains and a formulaic plot, Sorrells maintains enough suspense to make the book an absorbing, if not lingering, experience.
