Miguel and his pastry-making father set off to sell their delicious wares. When Papa gives pastries away to the needy, Miguel worries his family won't have enough money to prepare for winter. In the end, Papa's kindness is repaid. The story's religious aspect seems tacked on in this tale of generosity and compassion. Rich folk-art illustrations complement the text.
