(3) K-3 Illustrated by Josée Bisaillon. Words from a young person's poem are "mixed-up" in the wind and "whipped about / and mingled in midair." Digital illustrations with collage-like touches play a key role in this adventure: the art shows the poet's words and letters blown around in what looks like a Central American town, rearranging to create nonsense words and silly wordplay. The main character tries to reconstruct the original poem, but wind and rain carry off the pieces again. "The seeds of thoughts were planted," however, and what sprouts is aptly punny. Rhyming pairs on three spreads and mixed-up words on one spread are identified at book's end.

(3) PS The little ninjas from Dojo Daycare and Dojo Daytrip are at it again. Master, thinking he's alone, is freaked out by mysterious sounds. As Master clutches his ninja teddy bear in fear, ninjas dart and dash out of sight, all the while prepping for his birthday party. Zippy rhymes and comical illustrations satisfyingly let readers in on the little ninjas' secret.

(3) PS Little ninjas and their master (yellow-skinned, with a Fu Manchu mustache) take a field trip to a farm. The master keeps having accidents, and the ninjas eventually remember their creed: "Always help someone in need." The book consists of fast-paced rhymes, a repeated refrain ("YIKES! YEE-OW!"), and zippy illustrations aimed at getting laughs.

(4) K-3 "My supplies have a mind of their own!" declares Art. Paper throws a party at her "pad." Pencils, crayons, paint, ink, and more attend, creating a "mess-terpiece" of fun. Exuberant splashes of color reign, as cartoon art supplies cavort through frenetically busy pages, expressing themselves in art puns that some kids won't get (e.g., "2B or not 2B?").

(3) K-3 After a twister scatters his animals, a farmer finds himself left with a farm full of scrap metal and machine parts. The resilient old-timer uses the parts to invent chick-bots, a sheep-bot, and other helpful animal robots. This salute to ingenuity features a determined and capable senior citizen. The amusing industrial-hued illustrations with pops of color honor the farmer's imaginative vision.
