She strolls the countryside making trades with neighbors until she's finally able to procure the apples she needs (a recipe is appended). The illustrations are bas-reliefs created from fabric, clay, wood, and other materials; some are effective, others awkward.

(4) PS Illustrated by Carol Baicker-McKee. "Catch a snowflake from the sky... / sparkle sparkle wish. / Spread our snowy angel wings... / flutter flutter swish." Stuffed terry-cloth chicks, some wearing knitted scarves and hats, prepare for Christmas by hanging ornaments and baking cookies. The text is more concerned with rhythm than meaning, but its gentleness will lull young listeners. A cookie recipe is included.
