In her third mystery-adventure, humorously egotistical adolescent detective Ivy Pocket must rescue her best friend, Rebecca, from a parallel-world prison, as well as kind Anastasia from her evil sister-in-law. As usual, Ivy is pursued by wicked Miss Always and the Locks. An entertaining if somewhat convoluted series entry.

The titular twelve-year-old catastrophe-magnet introduced in Anyone but Ivy Pocket returns. Now in London, she faces a host of dubious situations, including a girl investigating her brother's disappearance, a deceased (or is she?) friend trapped in another dimension, and the evil Miss Always's hunt for the Clock Diamond. Tim Burton–esque illustrations and a hilariously self-impressed protagonist outshine the story's uneven pacing.

Twelve-year-old orphan maid Ivy Pocket is an unreliable, self-deluded, and egotistical narrator (think Amelia Bedelia meets Lemony Snicket) hired to deliver a magical necklace to an heiress. A host of villainous characters and shady motives, added to Ivy's rash but comical demeanor, will keep readers guessing, if they aren't distracted by the slightly convoluted supernatural mystery. Creepy, stylized black-and-white illustrations appear throughout.
