Giovanni Caselli.
Eleven myths about the creation of the world, the gods, and humankind, as well as the battle between good and evil, are elegantly retold in this volume. The illustrations, bordered with decorative columns, have strong lines and a pleasing symmetry. A helpful list of "People and Place in Egyptian Myths" is appended, but no source notes are included. Not attempting to be comprehensive, this collection is an unintimidating introduction to Greek mythology. Twenty stories, including "The Twelve Labours of Heracles," "Eros and Psyche," and "The Wooden Horse," are retold in clear prose. Caselli's illustrations are a bit stiff, but the book is attractively designed. No source notes are included. Glos., ind.
