After an exhausting and dirty trip to the city where the cow, duck, and pig go to escape the soapy washings of Mrs. Wishy-Washy, the animals all realize that home on the farm is best. Though the rhyming text is a bit uneven, those who loved the first Mrs. Wishy-Washy will enjoy the new adventures of these animals, accompanied by expressive watercolor and ink illustrations.

A girl, her friend, and her stuffed bear Barney show up for Harold Hinkle's birthday party looking clean and neat. After Barney gets a paint makeover and goes for a swim in the fish tank, and the children fall out of a pirate ship hammock, they all agree it was a great party--but Harold Hinkle's mom has to go lie down. The kid's-eye perspective is perfectly understated, while the pen-and- ink and watercolor illustrations show the other side of the story.
