(2) 4-6 Illustrated by Jirina Marton & Jirina Marton. The higher the snowdrifts and the lower the temperature, the more it pays to be compassionate. At least that's the impression given by this collection of artfully shaped tales from Sweden, Lithuania, Alaska, and other frigid climes. Overall, the stories exude good will and a sense of respect for the often wondrous and mysterious landscape, a regard heightened by Marton's stark, wintry oil pastel pictures.
