Illustrated by
Susannah Ryan.
Darcy is very open about disliking her baby brother, and her grandmother agrees. The two of them go to the park, determined to enjoy all the things that babies can't do. By the time they arrive home, they are both ready to allow that, "deep down," they might like the baby after all. Warm and humorous illustrations capture the story in this welcome reissue.

Sparky and Eddie are delighted to be part of a pretend rodeo at school. They compete in events such as Teddy Bear Roping, and their friendship survives even though Eddie helps his class beat Sparky's. The details about school and friendships ring true, and Ryan's watercolor and ink illustrations convey the imagination of these cowboys whose bucking broncos are really sock horses.
