High-strung Bob fears they'll never find camp, while easygoing Joss optimistically continues forward. The boys explore varied elevations (with heights noted on each spread) before returning to their campfire. There's plenty of humor to enjoy in the detailed digital illustrations, including the boys' exaggerated facial expressions.

(3) K-3 Illustrated by Vin Vogel. Two vacationing boys rent a sailboat, get lost, and are shipwrecked in a storm. Tightly wound Bob worries while laidback Joss goes with the flow. Details in the cartoonlike illustrations (as well as handy GPS coordinates) eventually confirm that they've landed on their original resort island. Humor stems from the situation, the boys' opposite approaches to life, and their lively dialogue.

Jaunty rhymes describe toddlers twirling and bouncing, tapping and shaking their rhythm instruments in a music class led by a lively, guitar-playing male music teacher. One little guy isn't sure he wants to participate, but by the end of the class everyone is having a ball. Colorful cartoons feature an eclectic group of tots and parents. (3) K-3 Illustrated by Vin Vogel. When Sofia finds Maddi's refrigerator nearly empty because Maddi's mother doesn't have enough money to buy food, Sofia promises to keep it a secret. But eventually Sofia tells her own mother, and together they gather some groceries for Maddi's family. Humorous art and a story line focusing on the girls' friendship keep the tone light. Notes on combating hunger are included.
