They trap him and learn he's been painting the eggs not eating them...which gives them an idea. Yee's animated illustrations help play up the humor. This bilingual edition has some minor flaws in the translation from English to Spanish.

(3) K-3 Brand New Readers series. Illustrated by Wong Herbert Yee. In four brief stories designed for beginning readers, Eddie steals eggs, greedily cleans out a jam jar, digs a hole, and runs from a skunk. Each story has a short introductory summary; simple, repetitive language; and a humorous twist at the end, with Eddie landing in some kind of trouble. Soft watercolor and ink illustrations boost the humor and the child appeal.

(3) K-3 Illustrated by Wong Herbert Yee. This unpredictable comedy of errors features Mom and Pop Nash, who are determined to keep setting traps until they stop the wolf who is stealing their eggs. It turns out that Wolf is painting, not eating, the eggs, thus leading to a whole new sideline for the Nashes' farm. The slightly wacky story is accented by humorous illustrations.
