Gabriela Vega.
To keep track of her rollicking brood and eventually scare off a predator in this bilingual counting book, Mamá javelina calls her babies using a Spanish counting song “Dos y dos son cuatro. / Cuatro y dos son seis. / Seis y dos son ocho, / y ocho dieciséis.” Alternating English lines help translate the song contextually (literally translated in the back matter), and richly colored illustrations bring the javelinas’ desert home to life.
