In this third super-silly installment in the illustrated British series, worry-prone Wilf must once again stop a scheme by his evil neighbor Alan, this time while the two families visit Zambia. Wilf's little sister, his loyal woodlouse sidekick, new (human) friend Abi, and some worry-busting tips help Wilf overcome his anxiety in time to keep Alan from destroying the world with his zany inventions.

Wilf (Wilf the Mighty Worrier Saves the World) must once again stop his evil neighbor, Alan, who has become a pirate to wreak havoc on the seas. Wilf overcomes anxiety with help from his trusty woodlouse, an advice pamphlet, his little sister, and new friends. Alongside the fast-paced, action-packed story, black-and-white illustrations and different fonts contribute additional silliness to this British series.

Since Owen's mother's death, his author father hasn't written a word. After Owen pushes his father to write again, Owen disappears from class--and enters the dark and dangerous world of his brokenhearted father's story. The parallel between grief and literal darkness is unsubtle but doesn't detract too much from Owen's compelling adventure.

When a unicorn, the embodiment of magic, is wounded with a poison dart, Maddy (The Feral Child) is called upon to re-enter Tír na nÓg and track down the unicorn's attacker. Hostile faeries of the Tuatha de Dannan court complicate her quest. Although the action is slow to get going, Golden breathes life into Irish mythology by highlighting real antagonisms.

The amiable ghosties return for another lightly macabre caper. The crew goes on a "holler-day" to Frighten-on-Sea, where they become embroiled in a mystery involving their missing friend, Headless Leslie; a haunted Victorian pier; and a menacing-looking ghost magician who's been wreaking havoc in the seaside town. The self-consciously quaint story's somewhat tortuous plot is buoyed by Roberts's pleasingly spindly, Gorey-esque line drawings.

A group of "ghosties" try being friendly to the humans in their house but end up scaring them anyway. Each ghosty has a different power or ability, and together they work to peacefully co-exist with the rattled "still-alives." The book's quaint tone is forced and the plot is meandering, but the frequent black-and-white drawings are entertaining.
