Free-verse poems capture the chill of winter weather as well as some of the season's warmer aspects. In "Everyone Talks about the Weather," neighbors chitchat about the cold; a pot of chili steams on the stove in "With Crackers, Please." Familiar subjects and concrete imagery make these poems accessible. Pictures rendered in blues and browns capture the cold/warm contrasts in the verse.
