In their second adventure, best friends Pete and Bennet use their journalistic and inventing skills to solve the mystery of who placed a pumpkin on City Hall's flagpole just before a mayoral election. A series of coded e-mails to their website leads the boys to discover the culprit--whose motivation stretches belief. Though the story is slight, the prose is fast paced and humorous.
