If readers can suspend disbelief that a high-spirited dog would be allowed backstage during a ballet, they will enjoy this tale about Jake (Jake the Philharmonic Dog). Though the narrative grows tedious (a Nutcracker retelling is included), readers will be taken with the unfussy illustrations featuring brightly colored backgrounds.
