Based on a screenplay written by Boaz Yakin and Sheldon Lettich. When Justin's older brother Kyle is killed in Afghanistan, Kyle's military working dog companion is sent to the family. Max is initially uncooperative and hostile in his new home, but Justin gradually earns Max's trust as they solve the mystery of Kyle's death. A novelization of the 2015 film Max, the story is predictable, but animal lovers will respond to its heart-rending (and -warming) moments.
