Lucia was born during a lunar eclipse, and her mother (who's left the family) always said that Lucia has a special connection with the moon. On her thirteenth birthday there's another eclipse, and Lucia begins having out-of-body experiences during which she's considerably more assertive than in normal life. The story's middle-school angst is relatable, but that it's solved by magical intervention is unpersuasive.
