Illustrated by
Wendell Minor.
A little boy and his teddy bear sit cozily inside a train, watching the nighttime world go by. While the rhymed text, which generally keeps to an appropriately click-clacking rhythm, stays with the boy's experience, the dramatic, expertly drafted graphite illustrations portray the in-motion train and scenery from different perspectives. The book begins in black and white, but color appears from neon signs and occasional houses and as day dawns.
