The president's two daughters (thinly veiled Sasha and Malia) hold interviews to select the First Pet. Each doggy applicant highlights his or her unique skills through rhyming text. Not only do the girls end up with a pooch, the president appoints the U.S.'s first "Canine Cabinet." The story, though humorous, tends to ramble. Pencil, ink, and watercolor drawings accompany the tale.
