In board book form, Westcott's up-to-date version of the classic jump-rope rhyme loses some of its punch. Although brief, the text isn't geared toward toddlers ("'Penicillin,' said the doctor, / 'Castor oil,' said the nurse"), and the pastel-colored watercolors are too detailed and slyly funny for the board book crowd. Still, babies may enjoy hearing the rhyme, especially if it's sung to them.
