Alfredito and his family are trying to get from Havana to Santiago on Christmas Eve, but Castro's rebel soldiers have blown up the train tracks and the buses are full. The acrylic paintings have an appealing realism that brings Alfredito's journey to life, but, like the text, are occasionally stiff. Glos.
