Born in 1949, as Czechoslovakia fell under Soviet domination, Sís evokes the childhood of an artist in a country of growing restrictions. Brief main text describes Sís's experiences, and small captions illuminate the thumbnail pictures of conditions in the country. Media and color choices throughout are expert and telling. It's a surprisingly comprehensive portrait of an era and an artist.
