Since 1924 — one hundred years! — the Horn Book has proudly pursued our mission of “blowing the horn for fine books” for young people. Our trusted flagship, The Horn Book Magazine, was later joined by The Horn Book Guide and Notes from the Horn Book, among our extensive digital offerings. Now, with much fanfare, we introduce the return of The Horn Book Herald!
Sent monthly in partnership with our sibling company Junior Library Guild, the Herald will spotlight new Horn Book Guide reviews along with links to articles, interviews, booklists, high-interest themed content, and more.
In this first issue, launching in advance of November for National Native American Heritage Month, we feature recent titles by and about contemporary Native people. See also the American Indian Library Association’s American Indian Youth Literature Award and Dr. Debbie Reese’s long-running American Indians in Children’s Literature blog, among other expert resources.
And Election Day is exactly one week away — don’t miss your right to vote! — Elissa Gershowitz, Editor in Chief
