Looking into the Past series.
In this brief introduction to the military leaders who fought in the American Civil War, Harmon provides readable one-page biographical vignettes of twenty-five Union and Confederate generals, many of them not well-known. Unattractive color portraits of each general precede each entry. Useful as a supplement to other material, this book doesn't give much of a sense of the events surrounding the war. A time line of important events is included. Bib., ind.

Looking into the Past series.
Twenty-five summaries of Greek, Roman, and Egyptian figures consist of very poorly reproduced full-page portraits and one-page synopses. Lacking spark in both text and illustrations, the book is still an adequate information source. Bib., ind.
