In 1958 Baltimore, Billy's determination to play quarterback for his school team gets a boost when he meets his hero, Colts quarterback Johnny Unitas. Wooden dialogue and lackluster football description mar this message-driven story of inspiration, which never really scores a touchdown but may appeal to young football fans. Illustrations in sepia-toned acrylics, though stiff, nicely reflect the time period.
