K-3
Illustrated by
Kevin Hawkes.
In this lively cumulative story, a pair of legs dangles from a porch. One by one, a cat, witch, bat, ghoul, ghost, and sprite approach, tempted by the irresistible toes. Not only is Stutson's text rhythmically bouncy and appealing, but Hawkes's illustrations are of the least fearful and most amusing of ghastly creatures. A sure Halloween hit.
