Mark Siegel.
In a blend of comic book and Gilbert and Sullivan, brave Beagle and nervous Dachshund agree to crew on a ship commanded by lonely Old Seadog. The operetta device unfolds by showing a young Edwardian-era dog and her mother arriving at a theater. Once the action starts, the stage falls away as if seen through the eyes of the young dog in the audience. Energetic cartoons play the swashbuckling to the hilt.
